Riding without borders
This is the title of an article published in the magazine about the story, or rather the choices, made by a young Italian rider dreaming of becoming a champion. That is a pathway to be build day by day with solid foundations, above all personal ones, because sports champions are also life’s winners, men and women with real values. It is not easy nowadays to make plans since we have no idea what will happen in the near future. Even if wishing to remain isolated in one’s own world, a privileged one for all those involved with horses albeit with its own problems, it is impossible to ignore the period that humankind is currently experiencing and all its hidden dangers. The experts say that it might take two more years before it’s over and life returns to ‘normal’. What better time could there be for building personal foundations for the future? It is time to do that so as not to be found lacking when ‘our world’ starts turning again. This is a good time for discovering the importance of relationships, recognising the importance of economic activities that support our sport, thus giving it the chance to continue to evolve. It is time to appreciate the commitments made by sponsors, owners and institutions, by the valuable people who work in stables, our conscientious vets, excellent coaches, time to recognise the importance and the need for culture, for knowledge of horses and an absolute duty to respect them. Because all this is part of a rider’s job and his/her life.
«Champions have a strong personality because they also well-educated and know how the world works… The horse is the key element in our sport. So boys, girls, never forget that, you ‘exist’ because you have this gentle animal who accepts to be your sports partner. Horses are our partners, so we must treat them as members of our family…» Jean Maurice Bonneau.
