Fieracavalli & Associazione Progetto Islander Onlus
2023 marks the seventh year of collaboration between Fieracavalli and Progetto Islander Onlus Association, a close and constant relationship aimed to protect the animals within the annual event, to the diffusion of horse culture and therefore an ever greater sensitivity of the whole community. Thanks to the common purpose and the strength of a team that believes in the objective, Fieracavalli and Progetto Islander have always raised the bar, year after year, facing many difficulties and having to deal with harsh judgments of all kinds, however truly determined in wanting to bring change in the life of horses within the events dedicated to them.
The experiences shared in recent years have led to the creation of the Horse Safety System (pg. 34). This is the real first step forward towards a better future that we all hope for.
The first project was to strengthen and upgrade the Exhibition Code of Ethics to clearly define the set of values recognised, accepted and shared by Fieracavalli which must ensure those who deal in various capacities with equines respect these values.
The intent is, through the code of ethics, to promote healthy and correct human-animal interaction based on ethical and moral principles aimed at protecting and respecting the well-being of the animal understood as a ‘sentient being’.
The horse and its wellbeing are the centre of this initiative.
Fieracavalli Code of Ethics
The Exhibition Code of Ethics was drawn up in synergy with Progetto Islander Onlus Association and with the support of the ULSS 9 Scaligera of Verona, in compliance with current legislation on animal welfare and the guidelines contained in the ‘Code for the protection and the management of equids’ drawn up by the Ministry of Health.
The Code is structured in different sections; each of them regulate and define the ethical and behavioural standards within all bodies, who, in various capacities and in different fields and skills, operate within the Event.
The document was drawn up by Progetto Islander Onlus Association (Board of Directors of Progetto Islander Association) and approved by Fieracavalli / Exhibition Committee / and is binding for all entities operating within Fieracavalli*.
Charity program Gala dinner of the 125th edition
During this 125th edition, Fieracavalli will dedicate one of the three evenings of its Golden Gala, Saturday 11th November, to the Ri.Abilitiamoci project promoted by Progetto Islander Onlus Association, for a new approach that promotes mutual support between fragile people and rescued horses from situations of mistreatment.
The story of Progetto Islander’s commitment to the most vulnerable will support the fundraising campaign dedicated to the work of Casa Ugi and Ugidue with children suffering from cancer at the Regina Margherita Hospital in Turin (Italy).
