Highway TN N.O.P.
& Willem Greve
Willem Greve and his fantastic stallion
triumph in front
dof the ‘s-Hertogenbosch home crowd
Hghway TN N.O.P. celebrated in the best possible way the recognition awarded him by the KWPN at the Stallion Show in February.
Just over a month after being named show jumping horse of the year, this super stallion has won the Rolex Grand Slam Grand Prix at ‘s-Hertogenbosch under the saddle of Willem Greve.
By a fraction, only 0.04 seconds faster than world number one Henrik von Eckermann and King Edward.
For Highway TN N.O.P. and the 41-year-old Dutch rider this was the most important win in their careers, along with the Rotterdam CSIO5* Grand Prix last June and the Mechelen CSI5*-W World Cup at the end of 2022.
For Greve who, with Carambole in 2016 and Grandorado TN N.O.P. in 2022, had already been one of the leading figures in front of the ‘s-Hertogenbosch home crowd with his two third places at the Rolex Grand Prix, this success is the crowning achievement of a career.
But he won’t stop here! He will be a ‘top contender’ at the next Rolex Grand Slam in Aachen.
Piazza di Siena goes to 91
An unchanged appeal and a bond with horses that goes back as far as 1922.
The sports show at Piazza di Siena in Villa Borghese will without fail take place once again this year from 23 to 26 May, with the 91st CSIO di Roma – Master d’Inzeo.
In fact, the first three editions of the CSIO Roma, which became part of the FEI calendar in 1926, were held at the Villa Glori (1926 and 1927) and the Parioli (1928) racecourses.
Then, from 1929, great show jumping forged an indissoluble bond with Piazza di Siena.
This bond has come through the different ‘eras’ unscathed and nowadays is stronger than ever. In recent years, the Roman event has in fact been given a further boost by the collaboration between FISE and ‘Sport e Salute’, and the participation of prestigious brands such as Intesa Sanpaolo and Rolex that will sponsor the two main events of the CSIO: the Nations Cup and the Rome Grand Prix.
Over a million in prize money
Ten events and prize money for over a million euros (€1,006,400 to be precise).
These are the features that will mark the 2024 edition of the CSIO di Roma Piazza di Siena – Master d’Inzeo.
Half of it, €500,000, is the prize money for the Rolex Gran Premio Roma on Sunday 26 May.
A quarter of it will go to the winner. There is rich prize money, a good €220,000, also for the Intesa Sanpaolo Nations Cup on Friday 24th, and €110,000 for the third main event at the Roman CSIO, the Trofeo Loro Piana on Saturday.
The Six Bars Loro Piana and the KEP Italia prize will also take place on Saturday and together with the Safe Riding and MAG and ENI prizes on Thursday and the Number 4 and Aston Martin prizes on Friday, will complete the programme for Piazza di Siena 2024.
Not just the ‘Grand Slam’
After Rome Piazza di Siena since 2018 and La Baule since 2022, as of this year CSIO Dublin has also become a Rolex event, leaving the FEI Nations Cup circuit.
The Grand Prix competitions at these three historical show jumping events (with 2024 Rome counting 91 editions, La Baule, 63 and Dublin, 90) therefore take place under the green-gold colours of Rolex.
In addition to the four ‘main events’ of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping, the Wellington, Windsor, Spruce Meadows, Dinard and Brussels CSIs are also Rolex-branded.
